Daily Devotions (Sermon-Based)

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon entitled "When We Mess Up"

Day 1: God's Faithfulness in Our Mistakes Reading: Joshua 9:1-27, Romans 8:28-30

Devotional: Just as God remained faithful to Israel despite their mistake with the Gibeonites, He remains faithful to us even when we falter. Reflect on a time when you made a poor decision but God still worked it for good. How does knowing God's sovereignty over our mistakes impact your trust in Him? Today, thank God for His unwavering faithfulness and ask for wisdom in your decision-making.

Day 2: Divine Intervention in Our Battles Reading: Joshua 10:1-15, Ephesians 6:10-18

Devotional: The story of Joshua commanding the sun to stand still reminds us of God's supernatural power in our spiritual battles. What seemingly impossible situation are you facing today? Like Joshua, boldly pray for God's intervention, remembering that nothing is too difficult for Him. Put on the full armor of God and stand firm in faith, knowing that the battle ultimately belongs to the Lord.

Day 3: The Power of Covenant Reading: 2 Samuel 21:1-14, Hebrews 8:6-13

Devotional: God honored the covenant with the Gibeonites generations later, demonstrating the enduring nature of His promises. How does this strengthen your understanding of God's new covenant through Jesus? Meditate on the unbreakable promises God has made to you as a believer. How can you live today in light of those covenant blessings?

Day 4: Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment Reading: Joshua 2:1-21 (Rahab's story), James 2:12-13

Devotional: Like Rahab and the Gibeonites, we were once destined for judgment but received God's mercy. How has experiencing God's mercy changed your life? Reflect on ways you can extend that same mercy to others, even those who may seem undeserving. Pray for a heart that rejoices in showing mercy, knowing how much mercy you've received.

Day 5: Seeking God's Guidance Reading: Joshua 9:14, Proverbs 3:5-6

Devotional: Israel's mistake with the Gibeonites stemmed from not seeking God's counsel. How often do you pause to seek God's guidance in your daily decisions? Practice intentional listening prayer today, presenting your choices before God and waiting for His direction. Ask the Holy Spirit to increase your sensitivity to His leading in both big and small matters.
