Daily Devotions (Sermon-Based)
Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon entitled "Ready...Set...Go!"
Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon:
Day 1: God Appoints His Servants Reading: Exodus 3:1-12
Devotional: Just as God called Moses from the burning bush, He continues to call ordinary people to extraordinary tasks. Moses was a shepherd, far from his days as an Egyptian prince, when God appointed him to lead Israel. Similarly, Joshua was once a slave before becoming a great leader. Reflect on how God may be calling you, regardless of your background or current circumstances. Are you open to His call? Remember, God doesn't seek the qualified; He qualifies the called. Take time today to listen for God's voice in your life, and be ready to say, "Here I am, Lord."
Day 2: Equipped with God's Word Reading: Joshua 1:1-9
Devotional: God instructed Joshua to meditate on His law day and night. This wasn't just casual reading, but deep reflection and internalization of God's Word. In our fast-paced world, we often struggle to find time for Scripture. Yet, God's Word is our primary source of strength, wisdom, and guidance. Challenge yourself today to not just read, but to truly meditate on a verse or passage. Repeat it, ponder it, pray over it. Let God's Word become a part of you, shaping your thoughts and actions throughout the day.
Day 3: Faith in God's Promises Reading: Numbers 13:25-33, 14:6-9
Devotional: While ten spies saw insurmountable obstacles, Joshua and Caleb saw opportunities for God to demonstrate His power. Their faith wasn't based on their own abilities, but on God's promises and past faithfulness. Where in your life do you need this kind of bold faith? What "giants" are you facing that seem too big to overcome? Remember, with God, all things are possible. Take time to recall God's faithfulness in your past, and let that fuel your faith for the challenges ahead.
Day 4: Encouraged by God's Presence Reading: Matthew 28:16-20
Devotional: Jesus' final words to His disciples echo God's encouragement to Joshua: "I am with you always." This promise of divine presence is a constant source of strength for believers. No matter what challenges we face, we are never alone. God's presence isn't just a comforting thought; it's a transformative reality. Today, practice being aware of God's presence in every moment. How does knowing that God is with you change your perspective on your circumstances? Let this awareness embolden you to step out in faith and obedience.
Day 5: Ready, Set, Go! Reading: Acts 1:4-8
Devotional: Just as Joshua was called to lead Israel into the Promised Land, and the disciples were commissioned to take the Gospel to the world, we too are called to action. The Christian life isn't meant to be lived passively. God has equipped you, encouraged you, and promises to be with you. What is He calling you to do? It might be sharing your faith with a neighbor, serving in a new ministry, or taking a stand for justice. Whatever it is, remember that you have been made ready and set by God. Now it's time to go! Take a moment to pray for courage and then take that first step of obedience today.
