Daily Devotions (Sermon-Based)

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon entitled "Trust and Obey"

Day 1: Trusting God's Promises Reading: Joshua 6:1-5

Devotional: Just as God promised Joshua the victory over Jericho, He makes promises to us in His Word. Today's passage reminds us that God's plans may not always align with human logic, but they are always perfect. Reflect on a time when God asked you to do something that seemed illogical. How did trusting Him turn out? Consider what areas of your life you need to surrender to God's plan, even if it doesn't make sense right now. Remember, our faith grows when we step out in obedience to God's seemingly impossible commands.

Day 2: Obedience in the Face of Uncertainty Reading: Joshua 6:6-16

Devotional: The Israelites' march around Jericho demonstrates the power of obedience, even when we don't understand the full picture. God often calls us to act in faith before we see results. Think about an area in your life where God is calling you to obey without seeing the outcome. What fears or doubts are holding you back? Pray for the courage to step out in faith, trusting that God's ways are higher than our ways. Remember, our obedience is not about understanding everything, but about trusting the One who does.

Day 3: God's Power in Our Weakness Reading: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Devotional: The fall of Jericho's walls reminds us that God's power is made perfect in our weakness. Just as the Israelites couldn't bring down the walls themselves, we often face situations beyond our capabilities. Reflect on a current challenge in your life. How might God be inviting you to rely on His strength rather than your own? Consider journaling about times when God has shown His power in your weaknesses. Let this encourage you to embrace your limitations, knowing that they create space for God's power to shine through.

Day 4: Faith that Transforms Reading: Hebrews 11:30-31

Devotional: Rahab's story teaches us that faith has the power to transform lives. Despite her past, Rahab's faith in the God of Israel led to her salvation and inclusion in Jesus' genealogy. No one is beyond the reach of God's grace. Reflect on your own journey of faith. How has believing in God changed your life? Consider someone you know who might think they're too far gone for God. How can you share the hope of transformation through faith with them this week?

Day 5: Standing Firm in God's Promises Reading: Joshua 6:26-27; 1 Kings 16:34

Devotional: Joshua's prophetic curse and its fulfillment centuries later remind us of the enduring nature of God's Word. In a world of shifting values and broken promises, God's Word stands firm. What promises of God are you clinging to in this season of your life? Meditate on how God has proven faithful to His Word throughout history and in your own life. As you face challenges, remember that God's promises are not just ancient history—they are living and active in your life today. How can you align your actions with the truth of God's promises this week?
