Daily Devotions (Sermon-Based)

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon entitled "The Covenantal God"

Day 1: God's Faithful Promises Reading: Genesis 17:1-14, Joshua 5:2-9

Devotional: God's covenant with Abraham, symbolized by circumcision, was a promise that extended through generations. In Joshua, we see this covenant renewed as the Israelites prepare to enter the Promised Land. God's faithfulness spans centuries, reminding us that His promises are sure. Reflect on the promises God has made to you through His Word. How has He demonstrated His faithfulness in your life? Consider areas where you struggle to trust God's promises and ask Him to strengthen your faith.

Day 2: Remembering God's Deliverance Reading: Exodus 12:1-14, Joshua 5:10-12

Devotional: The Passover celebration was a powerful reminder of God's deliverance of Israel from slavery in Egypt. As the Israelites observed this feast in the Promised Land, they recalled God's mighty acts and His provision throughout their journey. Just as the manna ceased when they ate the produce of Canaan, God's provision may change form but never fails. How has God delivered you from difficult circumstances? Take time to recount His faithfulness and express gratitude for His ongoing provision in your life.

Day 3: God's Presence in Our Battles Reading: Joshua 5:13-15, Ephesians 6:10-18

Devotional: Joshua's encounter with the commander of the Lord's army reminds us that our battles are ultimately God's. We are called to recognize His holiness and submit to His authority. In our spiritual warfare, we must remember that God is not just on our side – He is in control. What battles are you facing today? How might surrendering control to God and acknowledging His presence change your perspective? Pray for discernment to recognize God's leadership in your challenges.

Day 4: From Shame to Grace Reading: Romans 3:21-26, Colossians 2:11-14

Devotional: God rolled away the reproach of Egypt from Israel, symbolizing freedom from their past shame. Through Christ, we experience an even greater removal of shame – our sins are forgiven, and we are made new. Circumcision of the heart through faith in Jesus brings us into God's family. Reflect on areas where you still carry shame or guilt. How does the gospel address these feelings? Thank God for His grace that frees you from the burden of past mistakes and gives you a new identity in Christ.

Day 5: Living in God's Promises Reading: Hebrews 11:1-16, 2 Corinthians 1:20-22

Devotional: The Israelites' journey to the Promised Land foreshadows our spiritual journey as believers. We live by faith, trusting in God's promises even when we can't see their full realization. In Christ, all of God's promises find their "Yes." What promises of God are you clinging to in your current circumstances? How can you demonstrate faith in God's faithfulness today? Ask God to increase your faith and help you live in light of His promises, anticipating the eternal inheritance He has prepared for you.
